Before you begin

You need an invited Show Hub host account and access to the Zoom account that owns the meetings you want to use. If your Zoom account is managed by an organization, a Zoom administrator may need to pre-approve Show Hub before you can authorize it.

What Show Hub receives

Show Hub’s read-only Zoom Chat module is designed to receive public in-meeting messages sent to Everyone. It excludes private, group, waiting-room, and breakout-room messages. Show Hub cannot send messages, start meetings, or control meeting participants.

02

Add and authorize Show Hub

  1. Go to Show Hub Host and sign in with your invited host account.
  2. Open the show you want to use, then select Set Up at the bottom of the Host Hub.
  3. Find Zoom Chat and choose Connect Zoom Account.
  4. Zoom will open its authorization screen. Sign in to the Zoom account that owns the meeting, review the requested access, and select Allow.
  5. After Zoom returns you to Show Hub, confirm that the Zoom Chat section says the account is connected.
  6. Enter the meeting’s 9–11 digit Zoom Meeting ID and select Save Meeting ID.

Connect each Show Hub host to their own Zoom account. You do not need to reconnect before every meeting unless the authorization has been removed or expired.

03

Use Zoom Chat during a show

  1. In Set Up, confirm the correct meeting ID is saved for the current show.
  2. Turn on the Zoom Chat module and place it in your preferred workspace column.
  3. Start the Zoom meeting using the connected Zoom account.
  4. Ask a participant to send a chat message to Everyone.
  5. The message should appear in Show Hub within a few seconds. The module is read-only; send replies from Zoom itself.

Only messages matching the saved Meeting ID and the connected Zoom account are routed to that Show Hub show. Changing shows does not automatically change the saved Meeting ID, so confirm it before going live.

04

Remove the Show Hub app from Zoom

  1. Sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace.
  2. Open Manage, then Added Apps or Installed Apps.
  3. Find Show Hub and select Remove.
  4. Confirm the removal when Zoom asks.

After removal, Zoom stops sending new events to Show Hub and the Zoom Chat module will no longer receive messages. You can also turn off the Zoom Chat module or clear the saved Meeting ID inside Show Hub.

Delete stored Zoom connection data

To request deletion of the Zoom account connection and associated public chat messages retained by Show Hub, email david@torahtechguy.com from your Show Hub host email address.

Troubleshooting

Zoom says administrator approval is required

Ask your organization’s Zoom administrator to approve Show Hub in the Zoom App Marketplace, then repeat the connection steps.

The account connects, but no messages appear

Confirm that the meeting is owned by the connected Zoom account, the saved Meeting ID is correct, the Zoom Chat module is enabled, and the test message was sent to Everyone—not privately or to a group.

The connection fails or has expired

Return to the Zoom Chat section in Set Up and reconnect the account. If you previously removed Show Hub in Zoom, authorize it again before testing.
